Review of ESC 2010 - Semi One (EN/ES)

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST OSLO 2010 - SEMI ONE.

The Eurovision Season is coming to an end with the Great Final which will be held in Telenor Arena (15.000 spectators) in the Norwegian capital city.

The draw for the semi final 1 will be the following: | El orden de presentación para la semifinal 1 será el siguiente:

01. MOLDOVA

SUNSTROKE PROJECT & OLIA TIRA – RUN AWAY

Run away: is an up-tempo dance pop song. Through the lyrics of the break-up song, the singer tells her former lover to run away and never come back.

I have to admit, it’s one of my favourites from Semi one, but I’m not sure about their performance live, anyways, it’s a good dance song that makes you dance, at least move your feet.

02. RUSSIA

PETER NALITCH & FRIENDS

Lost and forgotten: is highly ironical and the song picks up many clichés of break-up songs, which is reflected in both the music and the lyrics.

I like this song, but I would not put in the final because it’s not good enough, even though, the voting from ex Soviet Nation could take it to the final.

03. ESTONIA

MALCOLM LINCOLN – SIREN

Siren is a mid-tempo electronic pop song. About the message of the song, songwriter and lead singer Robin Juhkental said that he "tried to write as cliche-like and simple lyrics as [he] could"

Sometimes I like, sometimes I hate. Actually I don’t see it in the final to be honest, it’s psychedelic and confused, personally speaking. lol

04. SLOVAKIA

KRISTINA PELAKOVA – HOREHRONIE

Horehronie: is a mid-tempo pop song with ethnic influences. The lyrics are dedicated to the region the song is named after.

I hope Slovakia make to the final, I like the song and the language, even I don’t know what she is saying, but however it’s a nice tune, so ethnic, which I like of it.

05. FINLAND

KUUNKUISKAAJAT – TYÖLKI ELLÄÄ

Työlki ellää: is a folkloristic song inspired by old Finnish poetic runo songs and gypsy music. Through the lyrics, the performers tell the audience what they sing when they in various different moods - and it turns out that it is always the same song, which bears a truism about life and work.

It’s a catchy song. I just love it since they won, in spite I also love other songs from the Finnish National Selection. I like the energy of the song and the chorus itself makes you sing even you don’t manage the language! ;)

06. LATVIA

AISHA – WHAT FOR? (ONLY MR. GOD KNOWS WHY)

What for?(only Mr. God knows why) is an mid-tempo R&B style pop song. Through the lyrics, the singer asks philosphical questions about life and she acknowledges with a slightly ironic undertone that only "Mr. God" knows the answers. Aisha herself says about the lyrics: "Throughout our lives we ask many questions, search for answers. Some of them are answered, some of them are just sensed, but no matter what the reply is, we always have a hope for the better to come and happen."

It happens that I like it, but I don’t see it in the final, even though, I’m almost sure she will make it!

Whar for?(Only Mr. God knows why) (Por qué?

07. SERBIA

MILAN STANKOVIĆ – OVO JE BALKAN

Ovo je Balkan: is an up-tempo song with heavy ethnic influences. As the title give away, the lyrics are about the Balkans, the region in Southeastern Europe, which also includes more than half of the territory of Serbia.

I like the rhythm of this song is just fun, I don’t like the singer, he is too blond! Lol but it doesn’t matter, the song is great, and usually that kind of song does well in ESC.

08. BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

VUKAŠIN BRAJIĆ – THUNDER AND LIGHTNING

Thunder and lightning: is a mid-tempo/up-tempo rock song. The songwriter has explained that the song is "about co-existence and tolerance. The lyrics are introspective and talk about the relationship between two people, but this can be applied to a strained relationship between any two subjects."

I felt a little deception from Bosnia. I’ve loved its songs from 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, but I have not felt anything about the song until this morning, when I saw the first rehearsal. I changed my mind and I think it could be the dark horse of the Tuesday night. (May 25th, 2010).

09. POLAND

MARCIN MROZIŃSKI – LEGENDA

Legenda is a mid-tempo ballad featuring traditional elements in the arrangement and operatic interludes. The lyrics present the singer's longing for the woman he loves in the style of a traditional legend. He is the knight and she is the princess to be saved.

I liked the song at the beginning but then it lost my attention. I’m sure it won’t make it, sorry Poland! But you should try with Marcin with a song like Isis Gee had back in 2008.

10. BELGIUM

TOM DICE – ME AND MY GUITAR

Me and my guitar: is a mid-tempo pop song, which is - as the title already suggests - facing on the guitar in the arrangement. The lyrics are autobiographical and deal with Tom Dice's way into the music business and the doubts and hopes that went along with it.

I love it, I hope Tom can do what Kate Ryan couldn’t. I’m almost sure he will, the song is great and all of us who feels the same, will give him their votes. Give him the chance to be in the final!

11. MALTA

THEA GARRETT – MY DREAM

My dream: is a classic ballad. The lyrics bear a message of hope and the will never to give up. It is quite similar to the previous one on its lyrics, what could be against her, I hope it won’t and this young singer could reach the final too.

My dream (Mi sueño): Es una balada clásica.

12. ALBANIA

JULIANA PASHA – IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU

It's all about you: is an up-tempo pop song. Through the lyrics, the singer confirms her devotion to her lover, no matter what other people think about their relationship.

Not my cup of tea but it could be possible that it will make to the final because it has its the big voters in its semi final.

It’s all about you (Se trata de ti): Es una canción contemporánea.

13. GREECE

GIORGOS ALKAIOS & FRIENDS – OPA

OPA is an up-tempo pop song with electronic an ethnic influences in the arrangement. The lyrics are about the Greek attitude to overcome the problems in life with positive energy and music.

I like the electronic influence it has in its arrangement. It will make to the final as usually it does, I think along with Turkey and Sweden will always have a spot in the final. This year the song is good but not the winner, at least for my ears.

14. PORTUGAL

FILIPA AZEVEDO – HÁ DIAS ASSIM

Há dias assim: is a classic ballad. Through the dramatic lyrics of the song, the singer mourns the emotional separation from her lover.

I love it more and more, the vocals, the singer, the song itself, it’s one of my favourites for all those things and more. I hope she does the PERFORMANCE of the night and make to the final, as Vania Fernandes did in 2008.

15. FYR MACEDONIA

GJOKO TANESKI – JAS JA IMAM SILATA

Jas ja imam silata: is a mid-tempo song with influences from pop and rock music. Through the lyrics of the break-up song, the singer tells his lover that he has the strength to get over her, although it appears to be more of a confirmation to himself.

I like this song, but it has the curse of be a non loved country by its neighbours and has not votes from outside of Balkan part, in spite of it sends a good songs.

16. BELARUS

3+2 – BUTTERFLIES

Butterflies: is a classical ballad. The lyrics use butterflies as a metaphore for people whose relationship is fragile, but light-harted.

It seems to be a song from Disney’s films, but it is nice, even though the accent of its singers don’t convince me, they have a marked Russian accent in their English but they could replace Russia in the ESC final.

17. ICELAND

HERA BJÖRK – JE NE SAIS QUOI

Je ne sais quoi is a mid-tempo/up-tempo Europop song. Through the lyrics, the singer tells about a special someone who made her overcome the sadness she felt.

To be honest, this song wasn’t my cup of tea at the beginning, but then, it began to be more pleasant to my ears, it’s a nice tune, I love Hera Björk, even she sings a Schlager became into Europop. She and her song is in the best spot, in spite the Netherlands did not make it in the same spot last year (last place) in second semi, but she has a song deserving to be in the final along with many friends voting for her! ;)

MY CURRENT VEREDIT IN THIS SEMI FINAL IS:

According to the countries allow voting in this semi; the seventeen previously numbered plus France, Germany and Spain, I dare to say these are the 9 secures to be in the final, in spite the 50/50 voting system:

QUALIFIERS:

Slovakia (It’s the Cinderella of ESC, but the song worth and deserves to be in the final)

Greece (Everybody loves Greece too)

Iceland (All Europe love her)

Finland (Baltic power, Iceland, Germany)

Serbia (Her sister will vote it)

Moldova (Luckly took the place from her sister Romania, so Spain, Portugal and the Balkans will vote them)

Belgium (I’m not sure from which, I just feel he will make it)

Albania (FYR M, Bosnia, Serbia and Greece, ticket booked)

Portugal (Spain and France will give the ticket)

THE POSSIBLE LAST QUALIFIER IF THE JURY AND TELEVOTING LETTING THEM COULD BE ONE OF THESE:

Malta (if Albania, Greece, Germany and others give a hand will help could be in final, she will make a very good performance)

Belarus (if ex sisters vote for them with the wink of Russia, of course)

Latvia (If she can beat Malta, her performance and the wink of their voters)

So what do you think? Am I right? Should I dedicate to write other sort of things, forgetting ESC? Write something for not to feel I’m losing my time!

Así que, qué opinan? Estoy bien?

Eurovision 2017: My General Top42 before all the Lights Get On (1s Part)

It's Eurovision Time and there are tops on line from the whole world, well, sometimes I made mine, and this year, I've been working on that too.
Here are the first delivery of what is my point of view according to the first listening and the song itself, let’s start this….

42. LITHUANIA
The singer has a great attitude and she can deliver a good version live of the song but the main problem is the buildup of the song itself, what is that?!

41. GEORGIA
I think she has one of the best voices of this year, the message of the song is good but I cannot stand the old-fashioned of this song, maybe if it had had some modern instrumentation it would work much better at first listening.

40. ISRAEL
Most of the fans are going to hate me, but I cannot find a gap in this song, I know it’s an up-tempo and he has a nice voice but it wasn’t enough to captivate me at first. Maybe in rehearsals or in his semifinal will make me change my mind, but it’s still not my cup of tea.

39. ALBANIA
It’s too dram…

Eurovision 2017: My General top42 Before All the Lights Get On (3d Part)

I'm going to divide the last 14 places into two parts. Here are the places 14 to 8:
14. NORWAY
Aleksandr Walmann has great vocals and JOWST one of the best mixes of the year. It will depend on what they have to performance it. I love the song and it was one of my favs from MGP this year.I’d like to see Aleksandr by himself in future too.

13. ESTONIA
Verona is a nice retro-eighties-song. Despite I cannot really find chemistry between the singers the song itself it’s really good. The risk will be in his vocals, Laura sings pretty well, but Koit could be penalized with his, I’m afraid.

12. SWITZERLAND
Flawless voice and great live performance, I hope they can make a great show live using a good backdrop and nice graphics that helps to sell their song. Switzerland could be placing really well this year, a top10 for sure if they have all the ingredients ready.

11. NETHERLANDS
For 5th year in a row, The Netherlands sends a song I like since I hear at first time. I love the harmonies of the t…

Eurovision 2017: My General Top42 before All the Lights Get On (2nd Part)

I wanted to post my top42 before the rehearsals, I could not make it but I will post it before the Shows are broadcasted.
28. SWEDEN
I’m a Swedish lover, but I cannot build a bridge with Bengtsson’s song, I know he has a great live show but I cannot stand the song itself. For me is not a winner, nor a top10 for Sweden. Sorry Sweden for second year in a row I won’t be crossing my fingers for you, but I aware you’ll be in the final.

27. IRELAND
It’s a nice 90’s-early-00’s ballad song, but I did not feel in love with it at first listening, 7th time winner of Eurovision is still lost for my taste despite I love its entries back in 2010, 2014 and 2015 ;).

26. AUSTRALIA
After the amazing Dami Im I was a bit disappointed about this song once I heard it at first time, I kinda like it but without being my ultimate favorite, I like it but I will not regret if they did not get through the final.

25. CZECHIA
I like it since the first listening but being realistic, it has not a strong gap that makes you …
